Alex is a lawyer with over 25 years of experience in technology, entertainment and casino gaming. A pioneer and visionary in the online gaming world, Alex has now transitioned his focus and attention to the world of Esports. Alex's career began in the early 1990's when as a successful lawyer he represented many of the land based Las Vegas casino operators in Canada. Clients at that time included, Caesars, Mirage Resorts, Hilton Group and MGM Resorts.
In the mid 1990's Alex was the first lawyer to be actively involved in the online gaming space and he quickly came to be recognized as an expert in the field. Alex was called upon by numerous gaming companies to assist them with their entry into the online gaming sector. Clients included Party Gaming, Poker Stars, Wynn Resorts, and Gaming VC. Alex was instrumental in the early success of both Party Gaming and Poker Stars when he strategically assisted the respective founders in their formative years. Both Party Gaming and Poker Stars were later sold for billion dollar+ exits.
With Gaming VC (GVC:AIM), Alex was retained by the original owner of the parent company to sell the business. Raising 81M GBP, this group acquired the asset and listed the newly formed GVC on AIM. GVC was the largest public gaming deal in the UK up until Party Gaming went public in 2005. Today, GVC is one of the most successful online gaming companies with a multi-billion dollar market cap and recently acquired competitor BWIN/Party.
Since 2013, Alex has been focused on the Esports sector and in 2014 came in as a consultant to PGL, the predecessor company to Millennial Esports Corp. In late 2016, Alex was appointed as CEO of Millennial Esports Corp. and since that time has led the company in its successful growth.
Alex is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada and on the editorial board of Gaming Law Review and Economics.
