Lauren Smits
Business Development Lead
Lauren Smits is the Business Development Lead for EpicQuest Education. Lauren’s work focuses on strengthening the long-term value of the company through the development of key partnerships, academic pathways and distinctive services to facilitate the international student experience. Lauren deploys an array of marketing experience, content development, communication planning, conceptualized branding and multimedia knowledge to her role. Lauren has experience in content marketing solutions, having interned with international digital marketing agency BluCactus, as well as in curriculum development and international education through work with the global premium tutoring company Ringle and as a teaching assistant in an Italian primary school. Lauren graduated from the University of Virginia with a BA in Economics and History in 2022.
Zhenyu Wu
CFO and Board Member
Zhenyu Wu is Chief Financial Officer and a Board member of EpicQuest Education. From 2017 to present, Dr. Wu has been an Associate Dean Research and Graduate Research Programs and a Professor of Entrepreneurship and Finance, Asper School of Business, University of Manitoba. From 2015 to 2017, he was the Head, Department of Business Administration, at the Asper School of Business. From 2011 to 2017, he was an Associate Professor at the I.H. School of Business, University of Manitoba, and he holds the position of Canada Research Chair (Tier II) in Entrepreneurship and Innovation starting in 2012. Dr. Wu holds a Ph.D. in Finance (2007), an MBA degree in Finance (2012), and a Master’s of Arts degree in Economics (2001), all from the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He also holds a B.A. degree in Economics from Nankai University, Tianjin, China (1999).
