Pine Cliff Energy is a Canadian natural gas and oil producing company (79% natural gas) that has grown from 100 barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOED) in 2012 to over 24,000 BOED, primarily through acquisitions. Backed by an industry-low production decline rate, high insider ownership and a strong balance sheet, its primary goal is to create shareholder value through disciplined, low-risk operations; accretive acquisitions; and a sustainable dividend.

Phil Hodge joined Pine Cliff in January 2012 as President, Chief Executive Officer, Director, founder and its first employee.
Prior to Pine Cliff Mr. Hodge: held the positions of Vice President, Business Development and Vice President Acquisitions and Divestments at Penn West Exploration, one of the largest conventional oil and natural gas producers in North America; was a Managing Director at Mackie Research Capital Corporation and J.F. Mackie & Co., Calgary based investment banks; was a Vice President and General Counsel of Westport Innovations Inc. where he was responsible for legal, corporate governance, strategic partnership and corporate development functions, as well as the formation and growth of the company’s business in China; and was a partner at Bennett Jones LLP, a Canadian national law firm, practicing in that firm’s securities and mergers and acquisitions teams in its Calgary office.
