Warren Irwin

President & Chief Investment Officer

Warren Irwin founded Rosseau Asset Management Ltd., a Toronto-based hedge fund with a specialty in natural resources, in 1998.  As Chief Investment Officer, Warren has managed Rosseau’s funds since the firm’s inception, with Rosseau LP being ranked Canada’s top performing hedge fund for the 20-year period ending December 31, 2018.  A Rosseau fund beat out over 4000+ hedge funds globally to earn the recognition as the top performing hedge fund in the world in 2016 by BarclayHedge.

Before founding Rosseau, Warren was a top-ranked fixed income analyst with Scotia Capital where he developed Canada’s bond market benchmark, the Universe Bond Index, was an associate in investment banking at Gordon Capital, worked in mergers and acquisitions at CIBC World Markets and was head of high yield research at Scotia Capital.  Immediately prior to founding Rosseau, Warren was a Director of a highly successful Special Investments Group at Deutsche Bank Canada, focused on special situation investing, primarily in the high yield bonds, distressed debt and resource sector equities.  He left Deutsche Bank in 1998 to found Rosseau Asset Management Ltd.

Warren holds a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and an MBA from University of Western Ontario’s Ivey School of Business.  Warren is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Rosseau was the co-founder of the Rally for Kids with Cancer charity event in support of SickKids Hospital, one of the top children’s hospitals in the world.  Rosseau has donated well over $1 million to SickKids over the years and Rally for Kids with Cancer has raised over $20 million since the inception of the event over 10 years ago.
