Aliyun’s Malaysian Unit Rolls Out Localized Cloud Computing Services

The Malaysian division of Alibaba Cloud Computing Co. (Aliyun), the artificial intelligence and cloud computing technology unit under Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. [NYSE:BABA], has begun offering localized product technologies and market services, Aliyun said in Kuala Lumpur on Oct. 30.

The move makes Aliyun the first international cloud services provider in Malaysia and the second-largest Aliyun unit in Southeast Asia, it will also make give the firm the largest coverage of infrastructure in the region, state-run China News Service reported. Its local tech and market service team will join hands with state-owned Malaysia Digital Economy Corp. Sdn Bhd and other partners to help local companies cultivate more information technology talent and accelerate the use of cloud computing in tourism, finance, logistics and transport.

Aliyun will be in a better position to support local small- to medium-sized enterprises and startups and provide an infrastructure platform and technical engine for Chinese companies to go global on a large scale, said Hu Xiaoming, president of Aliyun.
