Chinese internet giant Tencent Holdings Ltd. took the lead in a USD10-million C-round at See App to help the we media services provider expand along the supply chain and cooperate with more brands.

The firm, officially Shenzhen Carbon Atom Technology Co, runs an official account on WeChat, a social media app run by Tencent, which is also based in Shenzhen. The program allows individuals and companies to create e-commerce stores on the social platform for free, online news outlet Lieyun reported.

We media is a rising phenomenon in the online world and refers the way in which individuals create their own media, through online blogs, videos, podcasts and more. It is having a profound impact on the way people shop, for example through key opinion leaders, or KOLs, who promote particular products online through sponsorship deals.

See App’s technical services provide accurate and efficient channels for brand operators to reach potential customers, said its founder Wan Xucheng. He hopes the company will help companies make better use of we media for branding and to generate sales, and plans to support 10,000 small e-commerce shops this year.
