Canadian hemp farmers are considering whether to establish a hemp research agency. Earlier this month, the Farm Products Council of Canada (FPPC) received a proposal from Canadian hemp producers to establish a Canadian Industrial Hemp Promotion and Research Agency. The agency would be funded by taxes generated from the sale of domestic and imported hemp products. To determine the merits of establishing a hemp research agency, a public hearing will be held and will include FPPC Vice-Chairman, Mike Pickard and FPPC member Yvon Cyr. The date and location of the hearing will be determined in a pre-hearing teleconference, which will be held on November 23, 2018.
