Alibaba Group Holding’s online travel platform Fliggy is negotiating with AirAsia regarding the Malaysian low-cost carrier’s plan to end booking cooperation, according to the Chinese firm.
Fliggy just learned about AirAsia’s intentions and is finding out why, China News Service reported, citing an employee at the Hangzhou-headquartered firm’s travel unit.
Fliggy will no longer after Dec. 1 be able to sell AirAsia’s flights or other services due to changes in the latter’s business model, the Selangor-headquartered firm wrote in an email sent to Fliggy earlier.
AirAsia flies to many Chinese cities including Beijing, Shanghai, and Hangzhou among its nearly 200 routes covering more than 20 countries.
