Six Australian companies, including Rydalmere’s Homart Pharmaceuticals, already registered for the third China International Import Expo (CIIE) that will be held next November while taking part in a pre-expo event in Sydney.

The group of six reserved a total of 1,200 square meters of exhibition space, the Chinese organizer said in a statement regarding the forum held yesterday.

Shanghai’s second CIIE had nearly 150 Australian corporations, an increase of 28 percent from a year earlier. The group, which sold medical equipment, food and agricultural products, as well as services, also booked larger exhibition areas.

China welcomes all Australian companies to actively participate and visit the third expo, said Sun Chenghai, deputy director of the CIIE bureau.

One-half of the second expo’s Australian participants came from the southeastern state of New South Wales where Sydney is located. New South Wales offers training related to the expo and expects more companies to take part in it next year, said Kylie Bell, executive director of the industry, trade, and investment department at NSW Treasury.
