Hexindai signs MOU with live entertainment company

  • Hexindai (NASDAQ:HX) enters into a non-binding MOU to establish cooperation with Entertainment Manufacturing International Culture Media (YRZZ), an affiliate of Color World Entertainment Limited.
  • YRZZ is a live event entertainment company in Asia that provides on- and off-line entertainment to audiences around the world.
  • Under the terms of the MOU, the cooperation will allow Hexindai and Color World Entertainment Limited to develop and diversify the business by providing comprehensive services for the entertainment market, starting in 2020.

Twitter fixes Android vulnerability

  • Twitter (TWTR +0.3%) says it fixed a vulnerability in its Android app that hackers could have used to control accounts and access private information.
  • The company doesn’t have any proof that the vulnerability was exploited.

Alphabet’s Pichai will get $240M in stock awards

  • Alphabet’s (GOOG,GOOGL) new CEO Sundar Pichai will receive $240M in performance-based stock awards over the next three years.
  • Pichai will also receive a $2M annual salary starting in 2020.
  • The stock award amount is the highest-ever for an Alphabet exec.

Amazon raising U.S. fulfillment fees – Reuters

  • Amazon (AMZN -0.2%) will raise its U.S. merchant fees for warehousing and shipping goods by an average of 3% in 2020, according to an internal email viewed by Reuters.
  • Key quote: “Driven by FREE One-Day Delivery, this was the largest one-year investment we have ever made in FBA. Nevertheless, in 2020, we will make only moderate increases (about 3%) in fulfillment fees, below industry average, because we remain committed to your continued success.”
  • Merchant referral fees will drop in some instances.
  • The changes will largely take effect on February 18.

Facebook removes networks tied to Vietnam, Georgia

  • Facebook (FB +0.4%) announces removing two unconnected networks of accounts that were connected to foreign governments and actors.
  • The first network originated in the country of Georgia and targeted domestic audiences. Facebook traced the actions to ad agency Panda and the Georgian Dream-led government.
  • The second originated in Vietnam and the US and focused mainly on US audiences. The activity was linked to US-based Epoch Media Group and individuals in Vietnam working on its behalf.
  • FB removed 39 accounts, 344 Pages, 13 Groups, and 22 Instagram accounts related to the Georgia operation. The company removed 610 accounts, 89 Pages, 156 Groups, and 72 Instagram accounts tied to the Vietnam-US network.
