Are you interested to get into the mining industry? Alex Christopher, president of PDAC, shares his opinion that he would like to see more young people with different skills in the area besides traditional geological aspects. Data analysts and data scientists are more than welcome to join. This will help the industry to develop into a more balanced technic team. Mr. Christopher also brings up that attention to ESG is becoming more critical within the procedure of permit application. It is important to find the balance point between this polarity situation in mining and environmental protection. For more information on mining and PDAC, please subscribe to our channel!

Mr. Christopher, a professional geologist, has almost 40 years of experience in the mineral exploration and the mining industry. He is a member of the Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia and possesses an Honours B.Sc. in Geology from McMaster University and an Environmental Biology Technology diploma from Canadore College.

He was appointed Senior Vice President, Projects & Technical Services for Teck Resources Limited, a major Canadian diversified mining company, in July 2016. He has been with Teck since the mid 1980’s holding a number of management, commercial and technical positions in the company in both Teck’s Exploration and Corporate Development Groups prior to his current position.

He spent much of his time over a 20 year period focusing on the junior mining sector, partnerships and property transactions, and for the past five years has focussed the majority of his time overseeing project studies and construction activities. Prior to moving into a more business oriented role at Teck, he spent over a decade in the field on early to advanced stage exploration projects.

NAI500 covered the leading mining opportunities at this year’s PDAC, the world’s largest annual mining conference, to find the most interesting opportunities for investors.
