BioNTech (BNTX) stock achieved a significant rise of nearly 4% during Wednesday’s US trading session. This positive performance was not primarily driven by the COVID-19 vaccine developed in partnership with Pfizer. Instead, what truly boosted investor confidence was the potential demonstrated by this biotechnology company’s continuous deep cultivation of artificial intelligence technology. Market participants highly acknowledged this, driving its stock price increase far beyond the S&P 500 index, which rose only a modest 0.3% on the day.

BioNTech is a proactive adopter of cutting-edge technology. Many might not be aware that the company owns and operates a wholly AI-focused subsidiary, InstaDeep. During the “AI Day” innovation event held on Wednesday, BioNTech highlighted the work achievements of InstaDeep. The company is consistently dedicated to leveraging AI technology to develop new therapies that meet market demands. Its co-founder and CEO, Uğur Şahin, has stated that BioNTech is a leader in integrating advanced AI to revolutionize the field of personalized medicine. He further added that the company is using its AI platform to advance the development of vaccines and drugs, including Comirnaty. Additionally, BioNTech’s technology is seeking broader applications; its InstaDeep DeepChain multi-omics design platform is now open to external partners.

Meanwhile, news from its important partner sphere has also bolstered market confidence in BioNTech. Its core partner Pfizer’s CEO, Albert Bourla, has signed agreements agreeing to reduce the prices of some drugs sold in the United States. This move potentially signals positive changes in the overall pharmaceutical industry environment. Furthermore, after committing to establishing new production facilities within the US, Pfizer also obtained a three-year tariff exemption for its drugs. Other media reports indicated that a tariff plan originally scheduled to take effect on Wednesday has been postponed. Collectively, these factors have brought favorable conditions for the industry.
