Healthcare product specialist Hims & Hers Health’s (HIMS) stock faced a key test on Wednesday and received strong market approval, closing up more than 16% for the day. This performance significantly outpaced the S&P 500 index, which rose only 0.4% that day, driven by the company’s official announcement of its entry into a promising new business area.
The company announced on Wednesday morning that it would launch a new specialty service focused on perimenopause and menopause care for women. As a digital healthcare company, Hims & Hers emphasized that its services will tailor treatment plans based on each patient’s specific medical history and personal preferences. Management pointed out that the decision to enter this field was driven by the observation of a significant service gap in the current women’s health market. By launching perimenopause and menopause-related services, the company expects to potentially reach a user base of approximately 1.3 million women in the United States.
Chief Medical Officer Jessica Shepherd commented on this, stating: “For a long time, women have been using an outdated healthcare system that was not specifically designed for them. The original intention behind creating Hers was precisely to provide services that truly suit the actual needs of each woman.” She further emphasized: “As one of the leading digital health platforms in scale, we have the capability to help improve women’s healthcare experiences and support their healthy growth.”
Hims & Hers also revealed that this new specialty service is expected to strongly boost its “Hers” division towards achieving the goal of exceeding $1 billion in annual revenue next year. Regarding the specific service model, patients can collaborate with healthcare professionals through the company’s platform to access various treatment plans for symptoms related to menopause and perimenopause, including different forms such as prescription medications, patches, and ointments.
According to the company, related treatment plans may involve the use of hormones such as estradiol and progesterone. Among these, estradiol helps alleviate typical symptoms like hot flashes and night sweats, while progesterone can improve patients’ sleep quality and provide protective effects for the endometrium. This strategic expansion further solidifies Hims & Hers’ footprint in the specialized digital healthcare sector for women.
