美国股市4月创出2024年以来的最差表现，其中标普500指数的11个板块当中10个都录得今年以来的最大单月百分比跌幅，可谓是一片凄惨。不过，在跌跌之声当中，矿商和公用事业成为了难得的亮点。
从指数来看，标普500指数和纳斯达克综合指数本月分别下跌4.2%和4.4%，均创出去年10月以来的首个月度下跌。此外，道琼斯工业平均指数下跌5%，创2022年9月以来的最大跌幅。指数下跌的原因包括顽固的高通胀打压了美联储的降息预期，同时一季报业绩表现不一以及中东紧张局势升级加剧了市场的波动。
从板块看，房地产和医疗板块分别领跌8.6%和5.2%。此外，4月美股的超大市值科技股，比如说最知名的“美股七雄”也大幅回落，拖累信息技术和通信服务板块分别下跌5.5%和2.2%。可选消费板块下跌4.4%。
标普500指数的公用事业板块4月上涨1.6%，也是唯一上涨的板块，其中贡献最大的个股NextEra Energy, Inc.（NYSE:NEE）、Southern Co（NYSE:SO）、Dominion Energy Inc.（NYSE:D）以及NRG Energy Inc（NYSE:NRG）的股价涨幅均在4%至8%之间。
