China’s BOE Technology Group overtook LG Display as the top supplier of large display panels after it has secured 21.7 percent of the market in the third quarter of 2017, Yonhap News has reported referring to the data released by industry watcher IHS Markit.
According to the data, LG Display has fallen to the number two spot in terms of market share for the first time since 2009. The South Korean company took up only 19.3 percent of the market for large display panels in the third quarter of this year, down from 20.7 percent recorded in the second quarter.
Industry watchers attributed the dull performance of LG display to the South Korea’s government sluggish process in approving the company’s plan to set up a new factory in China.
