State-run Korea Tourism Organization and Tencent Holdings will partner to boost tourism between China and South Korea after a slump caused by soured diplomatic relations.

The two parties signed a cooperation agreement under which they will leverage social media application WeChat and Tencent’s other platforms to provide useful information for Chinese tourists, reported South Korean Yonhap News Agency.

Korea Tourism Organization also plans target Tencent’s over 48,000 employees with promotional tourism activities and launch summer travel commercials on video streaming platform Tencent Video and on WeChat.

The number of Chinese tourists visiting the country declined sharply following South Korea’s decision to deploy a US anti-ballistic missile defense system known as Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, or THAAD in March 2017, but the number rebounded this March by hitting a 13-month record of over 400,000 Chinese tourists.
