The cloud computing unit under Chinese tech titan Alibaba Group Holding will cooperate with Kingland Technology, a smart city solutions provider, to develop smart agricultural tech using the Internet of Things.

Kingland penned a framework deal with Alibaba Cloud on Sept. 21, it said in a statement yesterday. The agreement will see the two firms seek new applications for the Internet of Things and big data in the agricultural sector, and explore how they can use data to modernize the traditional industry.

The ultimate aim is to commercialize all data and digitize all business, the statement added, and modern agricultural planting technology, data control, product safety and traceability will be top priorities.

Kingland will also use Alibaba’s cloud technology to connect all of its IoT terminals by linking them to the cloud, and hopes to benefit from its partner’s technical services and existing market, it said.
