This year’s China Shanghai International Technology Fair will have  exhibitors from North America for the first time.

The North American  delegation includes American and Canadian firms that will display their  advanced technologies in artificial intelligence and smart healthcare,  among others, Zhu Yi, the deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal  Commission of Commerce, said at a press conference yesterday.

The US firms come from  some of the hotbeds for startups such as Silicon Valley and Seattle,  according to Zhu. Members of the North American delegation include Vess,  which provides AI solutions to companies by using Big Data, as well as  AstroReality, which uses augmented reality for space education. The  latter won the innovation award at the Consumer Electronics Show 2019 in  Las Vegas.

The area for foreign  participants will reach 2,600 square meters out of the total of 35,000  sqm. The fair will host pavilions with themes including science and  technology innovation, ecology, and service trade. The event will be  held in Shanghai from April 18 to April 20.

The friend city of this  year’s fair is southwestern Germany’s Saarland, which will send the  German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and the Fraunhofer  Society for the Advancement of Applied Research to take part in the  event. Other European participants include Liverpool’s Virtual  Engineering Centre and Budapest-headquartered Morgan Star Group which  has attended the fair four times. This time, it will bring its wearables  and high-protein wheat production technologies.
