Chinese dronemaker DJI Technology will set up its  first overseas plant in the US to strengthen its local manufacturing  prowess in a popular market.

The main reason for the new base is that demand for the Mavic 2 Enterprise  Dual exceeded expectations in North America, Beijing Business Today reported, citing the Shenzhen-based firm.

DJI  started to work on the project in a warehouse in California last year.  The new plant will assemble parts and fixtures, as well as test devices,  package them and send them to customers.

The  move has nothing to do with the security warnings issued by the US  concerning Chinese drones, nor is it shifting or withdrawing production  resources from China, the company added.

On  June 24, the firm released its new DJI Government Edition which stores  data only in the device, aiming to reduce concerns of safety that spread  after the US Department of Homeland Security said in May that Chinese  drones may share data with the Chinese government.
