Airbnb tightening reins on Experiences

  • Airbnb (AIRB) plans to verify all of its Experiences listings, though it doesn’t specify what verification will involve.
  • The company will also expand the list of activities considered “technically specialized,” which require the listing entity to provide proof of permits and, if applicable, certifications and licenses. The new entries include outdoor activities near large bodies of water and experiences in National Parks and US Forest Service lands.
  • Earlier this month, AIRB said it would start verifying its short-term rentals after a shooting that killed five people in an Airbnb rental.

Amazon Pharmacy debuts branding

  • PillPack gets a name change to “PillPack by Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) Pharmacy,” the first public reference to Amazon Pharmacy.
  • CNBC sources say PillPack CEO TJ Parker was promoted over the summer to a VP position reporting directly to Doug Herrington, SVP for North America.
  • Amazon purchased PillPack last year for $750M in one of its largest healthcare pushes.

Twitter defines its political ad ban

  • Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) tightens its political ad ban to include political candidate or legislation references or ads for a particular legislative outcome on social or political causes.
  • The social networking giant first announced its political ad ban last month but didn’t provide details.
  • Twitter will use automated tech and human workers to enforce the ban.
  • The ban will go into effect on November 22.

Trump, Apple’s Cook visiting Texas facilities next week

  • Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) CEO Tim Cook and President Trump will visit facilities in Texas on Wednesday where the Mac Pro is assembled, according to Reuters sources.
  • The trip comes as Apple is seeking further tariff exemptions on goods imported from China, where Apple makes most of its products. U.S. trade regulators recently approved 10 of Apple’s 15 requests.
  • Earlier this year, the WSJ reported Apple planned to move its Mac Pro production to China, which inspired negative tweets from Trump. Apple later announced it would assemble the new Mac Pros in Austin.

Amazon dropped plan for checking accounts – report

  • Amazon (AMZN -1%) scrapped its plans for branded checking accounts in the early stages, according to The Information sources.
  • The tech giant explored a partnership with banks, but Amazon reportedly told JPMorgan it canceled because it didn’t want to become subject to banking regulations.
