Where Does Bitcoin Go After the Surge? The Dual Transformation of Pullback Depth and Miner Strategy Shifts

Bitcoin has risen approximately 27% over the past month, reigniting market optimism, but doubts about the sustainability of the rally have not dissipated. Chris Sullivan, co-founder of crypto asset hedge fund Hyperion Decimus, stated that the current rebound intensity is facing a critical test, and the subsequent pullback trajectory will serve as a core metric for measuring market health. He believes that after such a sharp advance, Bitcoin has entered clearly overbought territory, and a short-term correction is a normal technical adjustment. Should the decline continue, the $67,000 to $70,000 range will form the primary support zone, an area expected to attract buying interest to stabilize prices. Sullivan emphasized that the pullback itself is not the main concern; rather, the key lies in the market’s reaction strength within that support zone, which will directly determine the short-term direction.

Liquidity-Thin Zones Under Pressure, Consolidation Seen as Prelude to Upside

Samir Kerbage, chief investment officer at Hashdex, offered a differentiated view from a liquidity perspective. He pointed out that the $80,000 to $90,000 range, due to historically low trading volume, constitutes a liquidity-thin area that cannot provide effective price support. Kerbage believes that sufficient consolidation between $75,000 and $83,000 would help solidify the base and reduce the risk of sharp downside moves. If the price can steadily break above $83,000, it would then be poised to approach the psychologically significant $100,000 level. He stressed that consolidation is not a negative signal but rather lays the groundwork for more sustainable gains. For investors, understanding pullback mechanics and key support levels is crucial for risk management. A pullback may offer entry opportunities for those who missed the prior advance, but a break below support would warrant caution regarding a potential trend reversal. Monitoring volume and price action near support levels is an effective means of identifying a bottoming phase. Given that the medium-term trend has not yet turned, patient positioning is preferable to chasing short-term returns.

Miner Crossovers Into AI Spark Resource Competition, Bitcoin Network Resilience Remains Intact

Regarding the relationship between Bitcoin and artificial intelligence, Peter Schiff, a long-time gold advocate, posted on X on August 23, 2026, opposing the notion of synergy between the two, emphasizing that their essence is one of resource competition. He pointed out that AI is not a driver of Bitcoin’s rise but rather competes with it for key resources, with the competition centered on three major areas: investment capital, electricity, and data center infrastructure. At the capital level, massive spending in the AI sector provides a strong alternative for tech investment; competition at the infrastructure level is even more tangible. For instance, IREN (IREN) reached a $9.7 billion agreement with Microsoft (MSFT) to build AI cloud infrastructure and enhance computing capacity. TeraWulf (WULF) signed a long-term contract with Anthropic to provide approximately 401 megawatts of critical IT computing capacity, with expected initial-term revenue of about $19 billion, highlighting the strategic value of power and existing facilities. Core Scientific (CORZ) has similarly entered into a long-term high-performance computing agreement with CoreWeave (CRWV), reallocating part of its power infrastructure to support AI tasks, thereby expanding the boundaries of its mining operations.

For the Bitcoin network, such transitions are not necessarily a loss. As network participation changes, mining difficulty adjusts automatically, so even if individual miners reallocate computing resources, the network continues to function normally. At the same time, these companies can revitalize power-related assets through AI operations and maintain exposure to the crypto market via mining or holding Bitcoin reserves, achieving diversified asset allocation. Given inherent high volatility, investors should remain prudent and conduct their own research to navigate future market changes.
