Huadong Medicine Co. is planning to set up two research offices in the United States as it looks to ramp up drug development and expand into the global market.
The Hangzhou-based firm is looking to set up shop in Silicon Valley on the west coast and Boston in the east, it said in a statement. It has already picked out office sites and organized recruitment, and plans to open the new locations up this month.
The new facilities will help Huadong push out its new drugs worldwide and exchange technology with the US and other developed economies, it added, saying it also hopes to run clinical trials in these nations.
Huadong Medicine will use its presence overseas to collate data on the latest drugs and foster relationships with foreign research institutes and hospitals, it said. It will also look to invest in new projects, technology and human resources.
