Commercial Lending in China Ready to Tenet!
China’s leading internet firm Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. acquired rights to a popular Japanese mobile game in the Chinese mainland today in a move that will intensify competition in the multibillion dollar online game market in the world’s second largest economy.
Alibaba announced a strategic deal with Japanese game company Hit-Point Co today to localize extremely popular mobile game Travel Frog. The Japanese firm authorized Alibaba to solely release the game in the Chinese mainland, which means the game will officially arrive in the country with the world’s largest number of internet users.
Alibaba Group is a latecomer in online games market in China, compared with its other internet applications, while its rivals such as Tencent Holdings Ltd. and NetEase Inc. are well ahead and occupy large shares in the games sector.
Travel Frog is a mobile game developed by Hit-Point. Its hero is a cute little frog. Players adopt the frog as their pet to raise and purchase virtual food and lucky charms for it.
The frog will take these things and go out for a trip on its own will. Although it will send photos and bring back the local specialties to its owner, or host, the player cannot control whether and when the frog will go out and come back.
Since the end of last year, the game has attracted many players, proving highly popular. Although the game does not have a Chinese version, the frog has already become an object for many Chinese players to care about. The total number of downloads in iOS client end exceeded 30 million, making it a phenomenal mobile game among people of different ages, gender and preferences.
