China Oil HBP Science & Technology recently clinched the bid for engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the water treatment project for Iraq’s Garraf oil field in a contract worth USD32 million.

The Beijing-based international oil-gas service contractor announced the deal yesterday.

HBP received the bid-winning documents from the project firm Dubai-based Petronas Carigali Iraq Holding — known as PCIHBV for short — on May 20.

The oil field, Iraq’s fifth-largest, is in the south of the country. Jointly developed and run by Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia-based Petronas — which controls the contract firm — and Japan Petroleum Exploration which is headquartered in Tokyo. HBP and PCIHBV penned a general contract on EPCC for the oil gathering system for the oil field’s third stage in 2017.

This second cooperation at this oil field for HBP and PCIHBV demonstrates that their owners fully acknowledge their previous joint results. The project will consolidate HBP’s position in Iraq and positively influence its business performance this year and next.

HBP is an international oil-gas developer and integrated service provider and has supplied engineering services to develop oil and gas fields in China, the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa.
