China’s Oppo Mobile Telecommunications and Sweden’s Ericsson have established a joint fifth-generation wireless networks lab in Shenzhen to accelerate the deployment of 5G globally.

The pair will share their 5G technologies to optimize the related smartphone products and network experience, Sina Tech news outlet reported. The pair will also deepen collaboration in software development and antenna design.

In February, the two firms penned a global patent license agreement under which the Dongguan-based company bought more than 500 patents from the Stockholm-headquartered telecoms giant. Since the third quarter of last year, the pair has tested Oppo’s 5G handsets and Ericsson’s 5G infrastructure with local operator partners in Sweden, Germany, and China.
