Apple (AAPL +0.2%) has acquired on-device edge AI company Xnor.ai for around $200M, according to GeekWire sources.
Xnor’s AI-enabled image recognition tools could be a natural fit in future iPhone models.
Xnor was spun out from the startup incubator of A12, which was founded by late Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen.
The startup had raised $14.6M in private funding.
Microsoft’s Edge Chromium browser now available
Microsoft’s (MSFT +0.9%) Edge Chromium browser is officially available for download for Windows and macOS users.
In the coming months, MSFT will automatically update Windows 10 to make the new version of Edge the default browser.
In late 2018, Microsoft confirmed working with Google to rebuild its Edge browser on Chromium, the open-source backbone of Google’s popular Chrome browser.
Telstra will enhance its integration with Platform Equinix, and Telstra’s Programmable Network will leverage Equinix Cloud Exchange Fabric to quickly enable private multicloud network connections
Telstra will also use ECX Fabric to expand the geographical reach of its TPN into new markets, especially North America and Europe, bringing the accessible markets to 38 from eight.
Approximately 110 AWR employees will join Cadence.
The deal was first announced in December.
Apple scoops up Beastie Boys documentary
Apple (AAPL -1%) acquires the Spike Jonze-directed documentary Beastie Boys Story.
As part of the deal, a special cut of the film will have a limited run in IMAX theaters on April 3 before landing at Apple TV+ on April 24.
Content acquisition is necessary to flesh out Apple’s new streaming service, which launched in November with a light slate compared to new competitor Disney+.
