2025 TSX Venture 50 List: Which Canadian Resource Stocks Made the Cut?
The 2025 TSX Venture 50 ranking is out, featuring six companies from the mining and energy sectors among the top 10 spots. TSX Venture 50 is a program that evaluates and highlights the past year’s 50 best-performing TSX Venture Exchange–listed companies, measuring their one-year share price growth, market capitalization increase and total Canadian trading value.
Ranking Methodology
This year’s ranking started with 1,605 companies listed on the TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV) as of December 31, 2024, ultimately narrowing down to 354 that satisfied the following requirements:
- Listed on TSXV (not NEX) as of December 31, 2024.
- Market capitalization exceeding C$5 million on December 31, 2024.
- Closing share price above C$0.25 on December 31, 2024.
- Closing share price of at least C$0.10 on December 31, 2023.
- Listed on TSXV for a minimum of one year.
From these 354 qualifying companies, rankings were calculated based on three equally weighted metrics:
- Share Price: Changes in share price throughout 2024.
- Trading: Canadian consolidated trading value in 2024.
- Market Capitalization: Changes in market capitalization during 2024.
Six Mining and Energy Enterprises in the Top 10
The 2025 TSX Venture 50 once again showcases the impressive growth potential of Canada’s resource sector. Below are six standout companies that made the top 10:
- Rank: 3rd, up 293% in share price in 2024
- Highlight: A Canadian oil and natural gas exploration firm holding an interest in the VMM-37 block in Colombia’s Magdalena Basin.
Power Metallic Mines (TSXV:PNPN)
- Rank: 4th, share price up 365%
- Highlight: Focused on the Nisk polymetallic project in Québec (nickel, copper, platinum-group metals, gold and silver). Formerly “Power Nickel,” the company rebranded on February 21 to reflect the broader scope of its assets.
Montage Gold (TSXV:MAU)
- Rank: 5th, share price up 193%
- Highlight: Developing the Koné gold mine in Côte d’Ivoire, expected to produce 300,000 ounces annually for the first eight years. Construction started in late 2024, with production slated for Q2 2027.
Founders Metals (TSXV:FDR)
- Rank: 6th, share price up 196%
- Highlight: Advancing the Antino gold project in Suriname’s Guiana Shield; reported a high-grade find at the Van Gogh prospect during its 2025 drill program.
Q2 Metals (TSXV:QTWO)
- Rank: 9th, share price up 214%
- Highlight: Targeting lithium assets in Québec’s Eeyou Istchee James Bay region. The company acquired the Cisco lithium project last year and is pushing forward with the Mia and Stellar lithium projects.
Artemis Gold (TSXV:ARTG)
- Rank: 10th, share price up 118%
- Highlight: Focused on British Columbia’s Blackwater gold mine, holding over 10 million ounces of gold. Key regulatory approvals have been secured, with initial gold and silver pour completed in January and commercial production expected by Q2 2025.
