Undersea mining? At one time, this may have sounded like an idea taken from Jules Verne’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea. In the 21st century however, “marine mining” is not merely feasible, but can be envisioned as a simple high-volume dredging operation that is potentially extremely lucrative.
One company looking to capitalize on these untapped riches is Hansa Resources Ltd. (TSX: V.HRL, Forum). HRL and its joint venture partner Poseidon Offshore Minerals Inc. are looking to explore an area encompassing 20,000 square kilometers in the shallow waters off of the coast of Ghana.
