Pioneering Anesthesia and Injection TechnologiesAt Milestone Scientific, our goal is to provide products that redefine the worldwide standard of care for injection techniques by making the experience more comfortable for the patient and by reducing the anxiety and stress of administering injections for the healthcare provider.
DENTAL INJECTIONSThe Wand is a computer-assisted system for local anesthesia. It carefully guides dental professionals as they are performing dental injections. Patients who experience our technology will find it offers less pain and more contained numbness for the area that is being treated by using single tooth anesthesia (STA). The Wand uses patented technology to control the flow rate and pressure of the anesthesia during the injection. Three speeds are tailored for each injection type to ensure optimal comfort and effectiveness. The Wand also identifies intraligamentary tissue so dentists can find the precise location for injections. As a result, patients receive successful, virtually painless single tooth anesthesia (STA) with no collateral numbness.
EPIDURAL INJECTIONSThe CompuFlo Epidural's pressure sensing technology provides an objective tool for medical professionals to consistently and accurately identify the epidural space. Knowing the precise location of a needle during an epidural injection procedure provides a measure of safety not presently available to doctors using conventional syringes, who rely on their subjective perception to identify the epidural space. The CompuFlo Epidural incorporates our patented DPS Dynamic Pressure Sensing Technology®. It differentiates tissue types for the medical professional via visual and audio feedback, leading to precise location guidance as the needle advances toward the intended area. The CompuFlo Epidural allows Medical Professionals to successfully perform epidural procedures with fewer attempts, while reducing the volume required to accurately identify the epidural space.
INTRA-ARTICULAR INJECTIONSThe CompuFlo Intra-Articular Instrument has been proven successful in administering medicaments into the intra-articular space using its computer-controlled pressure sensing capabilities. This eliminates the need to use a manual syringe to locate the intra-articular space and leaves less room for error while injecting the appropriate volume of medicament. In the absence of curative procedures, arthritis patients are obliged to undergo multiple painful injections each year over their lifetime. Often these injections are not as effective because the doctor, using a manual syringe, doesn't locate the intra-articular space or inject the right volume medicament into that space. Our computer-assisted technology reduces the risk of these human errors. In an independent animal study, CompuFlo Intra-Articular has proven successful in administering medicaments into the intra-articular space using its computer-controlled pressure sensing capabilities. The CompuFlo Intra-Articular Instrument enables medical professionals to administer accurate joint injections without the risk of radiation; and the benefits are significant.
Chairman of the Board
Leslie has served as an Independent Director of Milestone since May 2003 before being named Chairman of the Board in September of 2009. She co-founded AdStar, Inc. a Nasdaq listed company, and since 1986 has served as its President, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director. AdStar is an application service provider for the newspaper classified advertising industry.
Gian Domenico Trombetta
Chief Executive Officer - Wand Dental, Inc.
Gian Domenico was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the dental division (now Wand Dental Inc) in May 2014. Mr. Trombetta also serves as a member of Milestone Scientific's Board of Directors. He is the President and CEO of Innovest S.p.A., a Milan based equity and special situation investment company with a specific focus on investment niches. In the past, he has served as CEO and board member for numerous private companies. Mr. Trombetta's appointment followed a $10 Million private placement into Milestone Scientific led by Innovest S.p.A in May 2014.
Chief Financial Officer
Joining Milestone in January 2008 as CFO, Joseph brings Milestone a wealth of finance and accounting experience earned over 25 years serving both publicly and privately held companies. A results-oriented and decisive leader, he has specific proven expertise in treasury and cash management, strategic planning, information technology, internal controls, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, operations and financial and tax accounting. Immediately prior to joining Milestone, Joseph served as Senior Vice President and Treasurer of Summit Global Logistics, a publicly traded, full service international freight forwarder and customs broker with operations in the United States and China.
Mark Hochman, D.D.S.
Director of Clinical Affairs
Dr. Hochman has served as Director of Clinical Affairs and Director of Research and Development since 1999. He has a Doctorate of Dental Surgery with advanced training in the specialties of Periodontics, Orthodontics and Implant Dentistry from New York University of College of Dental Surgery, and has been practicing Dentistry since 1984. He formally held a part-time faculty appointment as a clinical associate professor at NYU School of Dental Surgery for over ten years and remains an active international lecturer on a variety of topics. He is recognized as a world authority on Advanced Drug Delivery Systems, having published numerous scientific articles in this area, and is credited for developing several new techniques using this innovative technology. Dr. Hochman has been responsible for inventing and contributing to the development of much of the technology currently available from Milestone.
Interim Chief Executive Officer, Director of China Operations
Leonard served as the Company's Chief Executive Officer from March of 2009 until July of 2017 and as the Company's Chairman from 1991 until September of 2009. He originally served as the Company's Chief Executive Officer from 1991 through 2007. From 1980 until the consummation of Milestone's public offering in November 1995, Leonard was primarily engaged as the principal owner and Chief Executive Officer of U.S. Asian Consulting Group, Inc., a New Jersey-based provider of consulting services specializing in distressed or turnaround situations in both the public and private markets.
Director of Engineering and Regulatory Affairs
Stephen joined Milestone in 2007 as a Director of Engineering and Regulatory Affairs. He has over 30 years of experience in the computer, electronics and medical device industries. Prior to joining Milestone, Stephen ran the engineering services department at RFL Electronics from 1998 to 2007. He also worked in various Director and Senior Mechanical Engineering positions for Medjet Inc., Datascope Corporation, Unisys Corporation and PerkinElmer, Inc. His career began in 1970 with Rockwell International, where he was responsible for designing environmental protection equipment as a Mechanical Design Engineer. Stephen is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers - the world's leading professional association for the advancement of technology. He has a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Loyola University, a Master of Business Administration degree from Rutgers' Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and Applied Sciences from the University of California.
